We can only control ourselves. When we are so attached to an outcome or goal that we would like to control other people or want to control circumstances, we are violating our personal boundaries.
When we want something or someone very much, and it feels like control lies outside of us - in the environment or inside another person - then our personal boundaries are NOT intact.
Weak or incomplete personal boundaries hamper performance and cause us to waste valuable resources - limited time and energy - attempting to control factors over which we often have minimal influence.
Weak personal boundaries also make it more difficult to set boundaries for others. After all, it's difficult to tell someone "no" when it feels as if they control whether you succeed or fail in achieving your desired outcome.
Strong personal boundaries empower us to be maximally effective and maximally in control.
