Emotional Intelligence
Emotional Intelligence includes skills of emotional self-management as well as skills for managing one's overall state of being.
Emotional self-management
Skilled emotional management helps us remain settled and focused regardless of life's challenges, making us more effective as well as peaceful - and happy.
Emotional self-management also creates distance from difficult patterns and conditioning (as when our "buttons" are pushed) easing movement into authentic, purposeful life.
Appropriate cognitive and behavioral strategies allow us to process and learn from emotions, to act effectively in the presence of difficult emotions, and to release emotions after they have served any useful purposes.
State management
State of Being refers to our overall condition at any given moment, including our perception of capacity, well-being, and internal energy.
When positive, our state of being can express an empowering sense of possibility and a sense of inner potency, enabling supportive, effective behavior and communications.
Positive, supportive states of being include feeling-states such playfulness, curiosity, compassion, confidence, personal power, and love.
One can access the appropriate mix of feeling-states for any situation, feeling-states that are supportive and generative, aiding one's ability to act and communicate appropriately and effectively.
