Skills of Peak Performance

Total Inner Fitness encompasses four areas of focus - Skills of Peak Performance, The Recipe for Success, The Recipe for Confidence, and The Recipe for Inner Freedom.

Skills of Peak Performance are powerful cognitive and behavioral techniques, process oriented skills and practices that enable greater flexibility, focus, and effectiveness - regardless of specific goals or challenges - maximizing control and natural ease, inner peace and happiness.

Essential Elements

Skills of Peak Performance includes:

  • Basic self-management - Practical, effective centering skills anyone with proper guidance can master, skills of inner freedom and skills of self mastery - facilitating consistent, satisfying success
  • Emotional intelligence - Skills of emotional self-management and skills for managing one's state of being regardless of circumstances - supporting consistently effective performance.
  • Personal Boundaries - Tools for establishing and maintaining healthy and strong personal boundaries, maximizing control and effectiveness, inner peace and happiness.

Basic Self-management

Basic self-management - a part of every program we offer - employs a set of specialized and generative skills for mastering the self and mastering the moment, process oriented methods and techniques that enable greater flexibility, focus, and effectiveness.

These practical, potent skills directly improve effectiveness and support consistent satisfying success. They also allow bringing one's ongoing sense of self and one's state of being into clear alignment with purpose, vision, mission, and intention, resulting in congruent, powerful action.

Basic self-management is grounded in tried and true centering practices but utilizes cognitive and behavioral methods as well. These skills have been applied to positive effect in diverse environments where performance matters, including major corporations and professional athletics.

Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence includes skills of emotional self-management as well as skills for managing one's overall state of being.

Emotional self-management

Skilled emotional management helps us remain settled and focused regardless of life's challenges, making us more effective as well as peaceful - and happy.

Emotional self-management also creates distance from difficult patterns and conditioning (as when our "buttons" are pushed) easing movement into authentic, purposeful life.

Appropriate cognitive and behavioral strategies allow us to process and learn from emotions, to act effectively in the presence of difficult emotions, and to release emotions after they have served any useful purposes.

State management

State of Being refers to our overall condition at any given moment, including our perception of capacity, well-being, and internal energy.

When positive, our state of being can express an empowering sense of possibility and a sense of inner potency, enabling supportive, effective behavior and communications.

Positive, supportive states of being include feeling-states such playfulness, curiosity, compassion, confidence, personal power, and love.

One can
access the appropriate mix of feeling-states for any situation, feeling-states that are supportive and generative, aiding one's ability to act and communicate appropriately and effectively.

Personal Boundaries

We can only control ourselves. When we are so attached to an outcome or goal that we would like to control other people or want to control circumstances, we are violating our personal boundaries.

Weak or incomplete personal boundaries hamper performance and cause us to waste valuable resources - limited time and energy - attempting to control factors over which we often have minimal influence. Weak personal boundaries also make it more difficult to set appropriate boundaries for others.

Strong personal boundaries empower us to be maximally effective and maximally in control, facilitating a relaxed, natural state of ease and happiness - free of excess, debilitating attachment to outcomes, enabling more consistent, satisfying success.
